Rec Game (9/17/2011)

Hello,
Just a friendly reminder, our first recreational game of the year is this Saturday (9/17). Meet at the parking lot near the corner of Lincoln and Oregon (the alumni center) by 8:40am. We will carpool from there.

What you need to bring:

$30 ($25: field fee, $5: gas money for driver),
long sleeve clothes that you will not mind getting dirty
a change of clothes for the ride back
something to drink
extra money if you want additional paint or snacks.

We will be playing at Sudden Impact. With the $25 fee, you will get rentals (a paintball gun, hopper, mask, tank), 500 paintballs, air refills, and lunch.

You may also wish to bring a snack and something to drink. The field sells beverages as well.

We plan on being back before the football game that evening.

Finally, if you have any friends who would like to come, especially if they have a car they can drive, invite them to come.

If you have any questions, email me at ross13@illinois.edu.

Second Rec Game of the Semester

Hey everyone,

On Saturday the 25th, we'll be heading back out to Sudden Impact for their Call of Duty themed scenario game. As usual, the cost will be $30, which includes entry, rental equipment, 500 paintballs, and lunch, with bags of 500 additional paintballs available for $20. We'll be meeting at the parking lot at the intersection of Lincoln and Oregon that morning, and we'd like to leave by around 9:00 am. We'll probably be getting back sometime between 3:00 and 4:00 that afternoon. Make sure to wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, because although dirt and paint will wash out, it's probably best to wear something you don't care too much about. Long sleeves and long pants are a very good idea, because getting hit on bare skin stings a little more than getting hit on a slightly baggy shirt. Bringing a change of clothes or something to sit on for the ride back is also a good idea, and I'm sure your driver would appreciate it too. The field has bottled drinks for sale, but bringing your own would be a good idea, too.

In order to give the field a rough estimate of how many people we're going to be bringing, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know you're coming by the beginning of next week. If you could include whether or not you can drive (and how many seats you have available), as well as how many people you might be bringing with you, that would be very helpful as well.

If you have any other questions, feel free to email me (cwweber2@uiuc.edu) or ask them here on our forums.

See you on the field,
Chris

Illini Paintball - Meeting Recap and 1st Rec Game Info

For those of you who couldn't make the meeting, or just as a reminder for those who were there, here's a basic rundown on what we covered:

On the recreational side, we're going to try to get out to the field two or three times per semester, and the cost each time will be about $30. This will include entry, rental equipment, a bag of 500 paintballs, and lunch. It's also recommended that you give your driver a few dollars towards gas if you get a ride to the field. We usually meet at the parking lot at the corner of Lincoln and Oregon, which is about a block south of ISR. For anyone who is quite a ways out, we can probably set up pick-ups near the six-pack and PAR/FAR. Since ride space is usually a little tight, we'd appreciate it if anyone who has a car and is willing to drive at least drives as far as the parking lot. If it turns out that we have enough space, there's free parking, so you can leave your car there until we get back to campus. Also, if the situation arises where we don't have enough seats for everyone, those who have paid the optional $5 membership dues will have first dibs on a ride. There will be printed directions available at the lot for anyone who needs them.

Our first recreational outing will be this coming Sunday (8/29), and we'll be meeting at the lot at Lincoln and Oregon and leaving around 9:00 am, and most likely getting back around 3:00 pm or so. If you could let me know ASAP if you're planning on coming, how many people you're going to be bringing with you, and whether or not you're able/willing to drive and how many seats you have, I'd appreciate it, since it'll make things run a lot more smoothly on Sunday morning.

As far as tournament play, we try to get out to practice 3-4 times a month. We go on Sunday mornings, usually to Sudden Impact near Bloomington-Normal. Entry and a case of paint will cost somewhere around $50, depending on what kind of paint the field has. It is field paint only, but there's no problem with not shooting the whole case and bringing some back the next time you go out. If you don't have your gear down at school, or if you don't have any of your own and want to try something out, there's a very good chance that we'll be able to set you up with something to borrow. If you're interested in coming out, the best way to get in touch with us is by way of the forums on our website, and you should send a private message to user "xaldin7" (no quotes), and he can set you up with access to the super-secret team-only forums, where we'll have threads relating to practices and tournaments.

We'll most likely start practice for the tournament team next Sunday, and there will be a thread posted on our forums sometime next week, so if you're interested, go ahead and post in the thread and we'll fill you in. The first tournaments coming up are the weekend of 9/11-12 and 9/18, so if we have enough interest, we'll try to send a couple of teams to one of those. Anyone who wants to play is welcome, although you should plan on showing up to practice if you'd like to play a tournament.

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email (cwweber2@uiuc.edu), or post it up on our forums.

Illini Paintball - First meeting info

Our first meeting will be this coming Thursday evening (8/26) at 7:30 in 319 Gregory Hall. We'll be discussing both recreational and tournament play, as well as giving those of you who have never played a little insight into what paintball is.

Also, there will be free pizza, so make sure you get there on time!

If you have any questions between now and the meeting, feel free to shoot me an email at cwweber2@uiuc.edu, or go ahead and post them up here.

Illini Paintball Rec Game!

What better way to spend the last weekend before you have to worry about finals than playing paintball? This Saturday, April 24th, we'll be heading back out to Sudden Impact (http://www.sipaintball.net) for their spring Star Wars rec game. Same as always, it's only $30 for entry, rental equipment, and a bag of 500 paintballs, and lunch is included as well. Wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt you don't mind getting dirty, and bring a change of clothes for the ride back.

We're meeting at the parking lot at the corner of Lincoln and Oregon that morning at around 8:45, and plan to be on the road by 9:00 so we can get there by the time things start at 10:00. If you have a car and are willing to drive, that would be very helpful, we're always in need of open seats. If it turns out we have more car than we need, you can always leave your car in that lot, since it's unrestricted on the weekends. If you plan to hitch a ride with someone at the lot, it's always good to give your driver a few dollars toward gas.

If you're interested in going, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know by Wednesday, that way I can let the field know how many people to expect. Make sure to include how many people you're bringing with you, and how many open seats you'll have if you can drive. You can either let me know by email (cwweber2@uiuc.edu) or through the forums.

See you on the field!
